Country Overview

Decades of violence in Iraq and surrounding countries have resulted in a multifaceted humanitarian situation, characterised by large parts of the country being directly affected by conflict, as well as multiple waves of large scale displacement including an influx of refugees from neighbouring Syria. Throughout Iraq, aid stakeholders have been responding to the immediate needs as well as providing support to the recovery of conflict-affected, displaced and returnee populations.

Since 2012 IMPACT has been supporting aid planning in Iraq. Through REACH, IMPACT supports humanitarian decision-making with assessments and information management activities through data collection and analysis. Since 2017, IMPACT has also supported UN actors through Post-Distribution Monitoring services provided by IMPACT’s PANDA initiative.
